Anna Cate Jones, a Film & Television Writing Major, joins us as an Imagination Scholar. Anna shares: “As a writer, my great hope has always been to tell stories that will make other people feel less alone. Stories have been there for me when nothing else has, and they have brought me inspiration in times that I never thought I would find it again. Through my work here, I want to learn what resonates with people. I want to find the common denominator in the stories that bring people comfort and ensure that, through everything I do in the future, I am making people feel like someone is there for them. If the films I write make even one person feel like they can get through their hardest days, then my whole life will have been worth it.”
The Imagination Scholar program identifies, empowers, and supports a cohort of visionary students invited to help shape the spiritual and creative life of Belmont’s campus. Rooted in creativity and community building, this paid opportunity allows students to build original creative work, assist with Creative Arts Collective events, and engage the campus community at the intersection of faith and art.
Each semester, scholars will work alongside their peers and fellow creatives on campus to serve and develop a vibrant artistic community on campus. As ambassadors for the Creative Arts Collective, scholars will design creative projects that connect the Creative Arts Collective to the on-campus community and look for opportunities to connect the Creative Arts Collective to the creativity already taking place on campus. The program is intentionally experimental: scholars shape its structure, outputs, and culture. Learn more about the program here.
